Bitubond
-
Rubber Duck Bitubond is a single component fibre reinforced bitumen-based, thixotropic heavy duty product for use on horizontal and vertical surfaces as a waterproofing and vapour barrier. Used in conjunction with a membrane to enhance the waterproofing system.
-
Fibre reinforced: enhances the membrane's toughness, durability and flexibility
Forms a watertight fibre reinforced system
Heavy duty waterproof coating and vapour barrier
Excellent adhesion to the concrete substrate that prevents lateral migration of underground water
Can be applied to a damp surface
Cured film is non-toxic

Smooth surface: 0.8 – 1 m² / litre per coat: WFT: 1000-1200 µm, DFT: 500‐600 µm, depending on surface porosity, profile and application tools.
-
Prime the surface with the suitable primer as suggested in SURFACE PREPARATION. Allow to dry.
STEP 1 - FIRST COAT
Apply one undiluted coat of Rubber Duck Sure Seal at a rate of 0.8 - 1 m² per litre. Allow drying for 6 hours before recoating. If used in conjunction with a membrane do not allow to dry and embed membrane whilst first coat is still wet.
STEP 2 - BEDDING (JOINTS, PONDS, DAMS & WATER FEATURES)
Thoroughly work the Geotexile waterproofing membrane (WP1100) firmly into the still wet first coat to obtain maximum saturation from below, smooth out all air pockets and creases. Ensure a minimum of 50 mm overlap on the adjoining lengths of the membrane. Allow to dry until tacky before applying the saturation coat.
STEP 3 - SATURATION
Apply a saturation coat of Rubber Duck Bitubond at a rate of 0.8 - 1 m² per litre to completely obliterate the weave and pattern of the membrane. Allow to dry for 6 hours before recoating.
STEP 4 - FINISHING
Apply a final coat of Rubber Duck Bitubond at a rate of 0.8 - 1 m² per litre. Allow finishing coat to dry for 48 hours before overcoating or 14 days before water exposure. If exposed to UV, Rubber Duck Bitubond must be overcoated with a suitable Promac top coat i.e. Rubber Duck Bituminous Aluminium.
-
Do not allow the product to dry on equipment. Equipment is readily cleaned using water. (Some detergent may be added to water to facilitate clean up).
